Steelers Open As 4-Point Consensus Home Favorites...

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 2 of the 2019 regular season with a record of 0-1 following their Week 1 Sunday night road loss against the New England Patriots. This coming Sunday the Steelers will play their first home game of 2019 against the Seattle Seahawks and they open the week as 4-point consensus favorites on Monday, according to Vegas Insiders.

The Seahawks enter Week 2 with a 1-0 record following their 21-20 Sunday home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson completed 14 of his 20 total pass attempts against the Bengals defense for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Those two scoring tosses went to wide receiver Tyler Lockett and running back Chris Carson from 44 and 10 yards out, respectively. Carson also had a rushing touchdown on Sunday in the win.

Seahawks rookie wide receiver D.K. Metcalf caught four passes for 89 yards against the Bengals. Carson, however, led the Seahawks in total catches in week 1 with six for 35 total yards. Wilson was sacked four times in total by the Bengals defense and the Seahawks offense managed to convert just four of their 12 total third down opportunities in Week 1.

As for the Seahawks defense in Week 1 defensive end Trey Flowers led the team in total tackles with 10 and linebacker Bobby Wagner finished right behind him with nine in total. The Seahawks defense managed to sack Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton five times in Week 1 and defensive end Quinton Jefferson was credited with two of them.

The Seahawks defense only allowed the Bengals to rush for 34 yards on 14 total carries in Week 1, the unit did allow Dalton to complete 35 of his 51 total pass attempts in the game for 418 yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks defense also gave up six explosive plays of 20 yards or longer to the Bengals offense in Week 1 and two of those resulted in touchdowns.

The Seahawks enter their Week 2 road game a little banged up, according to head coach Pete Carroll on Monday. Rookie defensive back Ugo Amadi is now dealing with a shoulder injury while cornerback Neiko Thorpe injured a hamstring in Week 1. Also injured during the Seahawks week 1 game were defensive tackle Poona Ford (calf), tight end Will Dissly (knee) and center Justin Britt (knee). After kissing the game against the Bengals, defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (shoulder) has a shot to play against the Steelers on Sunday, according to Carroll.

As previously reported a few weeks ago, the Seahawks won’t have defensive tackle Jarran Reed for their game against the Steelers as he’s currently serving a six-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy relating to an incident of alleged domestic violence.

The Steelers last played the Seahawks in 2015 and they lost that game in Seattle 39-30. In that game, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 36 of his 55 total pass attempts for 456 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Roethlisberger, however, removed himself from that game in the fourth quarter due to concussion-like symptoms. He was sacked twice by the Seahawks defense in that game.

Wilson, on the other hand, completed 21 of his 30 total pass attempts in that home win over the Steelers for 345 yards and five touchdowns.

In the two previous Steelers games against the Seahawks, both of which took place at Heinz Field, the Steelers win both a combined score of 45-0.
