Getting Evan Engram back could be key for New York...

Tight end Evan Engram leads the New York Giants in every major receiving category this year, even after missing the team’s last game in New England.

Engram has caught 33 of the 48 targets thrown his way for 373 yards and two touchdowns. He was off to a blazing start, displaying his Pro Bowl-caliber talents and finally appeared to be coming into his own.

Then, two weeks ago Engram suffered a minor MCL injury and was forced to sit out the Giants’ 35-14 loss to the Patriots on Thursday.

On Monday at practice, Engram was out on the field and said afterward that he felt good and that the team was “being smart” with him.

“I feel really good. Got out there, was running around. It was good to get out there moving around. I’ve got a long week to get ready, so coach is taking care of us, but we did get some good work in. It felt good today,” Engram told reporters on Monday. “Today it felt really good. Definitely last week was tough, and the short week didn’t really help, but today with the rest that I got, I felt really good.

“I’m pretty optimistic. Pretty optimistic.”

The Giants could certainly use Engram against the Cardinals this week as tight ends have been giving them fits this season. They are the worst at defending tight ends allowing the most fantasy points on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Engram leads all tight ends on DraftKings, averaging 17.8 fantasy points per game. He is second to Atlanta’s Austin Hooper on FanDuel, averaging 13.3 fantasy points per game to Hooper’s 13.5. But Hooper has played six games to Engram’s five and one of those games was Sunday against Arizona and had eight receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.
